Presentation and Reading with Christian Buckard 28.01.2016 Café Kaiserfeld, Kaiserfeldgasse 19, 8010 Graz
As famous as the Feldenkrais method is, little has been known about the man behind the method -- until now. In this first biography ever of Moshé Feldenkrais, Christian Burkhard takes us on an an adventurous odyssey through the central stations of 20th century history. His escape from the Ukraine in 1918 leads Feldenkrais to the dusty construction sites of Tel Aviv, then to the Radium Institute of the Joliot-Curie husband and wife team in Paris, to the London "Blitz" and Churchill's secret anti-U-Boot research department in northern Scotland.
Thanks to his friendship with the Judo inventor Jigoro Kano and a supposedly incurable knee injury, Feldenkrais discovered decades before what brain research has only proven recently: that the body and mind form a unit and that there is a "muscle of the soul."
This event was organized in cooperation with the Feldenkrais Werkstatt Graz and Café Kaiserfeld.
