LISTEN. SURVIVAL STORIES
In cooperation with KIG! and the GrazMuseum
This collection of oral history stories in German of Shoah survivors from southern Austria focuses on details of life during the Third Reich in Graz and in the province of Styria. Although most Jews in Styria emigrated, were deported or perished during the Holocaust, a few survived by hiding among Austrian farmers or by the extraordinary help of others. These stories were first published as an audio book and audio exhibit as part of the Hörmal. Überlebensgeschichten project in cooperation with Kultur in Graz! and the GrazMuseum. The audio book includes oral histories, audio clips arranged by theme for classroom use, photos, transcripts, lesson plans, essays on Graz Jewish history, and more. With the help of the local school board, the audio book was distributed to all secondary schools in the province of Styria. Much of the material is also available here (in German). - WITNESSES TO HISTORY - THEMES - TEACHING MATERIALS - SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY |
